July 12

Yep, today is one year to the day I placed a picture of one red paperclip on this site. Today is also the day Dom and I will be in Kipling Saskatchewan to shake hands with mayor Pat Jackson and officially trade one movie role for one house, located at 503 Main Street. This is going to be so much fun. Should be on the news and stuff today - stay tuned for pictures of the house tomorrow!

Kyle

PS - feel free to send in any video of the newscasts so we can share them with everyone here on the site!

UPDATE - I strongly encourgage this. (best part starts about two minutes in.)

  4. Congratulations Kyle! Your story made it onto Australian News Networks last night - (Tuesday the 11th of July here) - and also featured on a new technology info show "Beyond Tomorrow" at 7:30pm this evening - (the 13th). Sadly, I had no way to record this for you and email it. This evening's feature on the tech show was a little outdated as it only went as far as your trade between a recording contract and a van. The news reports yesterday mentioned your acquisition of the house.
So, again (in my long winded way) CONGATS!

  6. This is soooo cool! Congratulations!

So, does the quest end here, or are you going to barter the house for yet something else? Maybe move on to owning an entire apartment block? :-)

  7. A rather lame link for you. The only photos included in the short synopsis were of the presenter! At any rate, you've made it to Australia... in a fashion :)

    Congrats Kylie.

For you archives ... here in the Netherlands (Holland) have been several news items (newspapers and TV) about your quest. Yesterday it was in the news that you got the house!

I have been on your blog right from the start (oh no ... that's not true ... from the fishpen onwards) and in my opinion the coolest thing you achieved is that you are now officially called Web Trader (watch the CAPS). Impressive.

    Later,

  11. Good Luck Today, Kyle!

Tomorrow, a man will close on a house. He didn't pay for it - he traded things for it, starting with one red paper clip.

Friday, we will woot a Pelham Manor house, for real.

I am from Australia and your story was on the Sydney Morning Herald today.

I actually first learnt about your story on KOREAN TV on a business trip there! It was a show called "Truth or Lie", one of the most popular shows on Sunday morning. 3 stories got to played on the show and then the celebrities who got on the show would vote for what they thought was true. Well, no one voted for you and how wrong they were!

    Congratulations. You are really cool.

Anyway, we have a radio station here in Melbourne, Gold 104. The morning drive show is presented by Grubby and Dee-Dee. And she does a gossip segment. And this story is sooo cool I just had to tell their producer about it.

Congrats Kyle, it was an amazing journey. I hope you guys will be happy in Kipling. I'm wondering... do you still have the phone number of the person who made the first trade with you? That red paper clip is now so famous, it must be worth a fortune. I'm sure somebody would pay good money to be able to say: Hey... I now have the famous red paper clip or even, maybe that girl who has it could start her own journey with the original paperclip. She would probably get more than a pen for it. Anyway... it's just an idea.
