Yet another spin around the sun. Pretty sweet
article in the Toronto Star today. Can't say I think one red paperclip was about material gain and that I was the only one who benefited form the trades, but ultra kudos to Shauna Rempel for putting "Generation-insert-letter-here guy" on the page!
My theory is that you have suceeded _because_ you were not about material gain, per se. Your currency seems to be kindness and generosity.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you've got up your sleeve next (besides the book).
Happy Birthday to you.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you.

Pretty good article, but when it comes to frontrunners to play Kyle, I'm pretty sure Topher Grace would take the cake.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely it's more than a material gain. Hey, in case you don't know, you've tapped in other people's lives. Yeah, kind of mush, but it's the truth for me.
ReplyDeleteKyle- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI HOPE IT WAS A WONDERFUL ONE.

What if it was for material gain?
ReplyDeletePeople who have such views, and there are lots of them, seem to thing that there is some kind of scarcity.
But there is plenty and it's not doled out in limited amounts. It's attracted. And that's what Kyle has done - inspiring many people in the process.
And there is something called rational self interest.
Let me quote Ayne Rand.....
"The world you desired can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it's yours. But to win it requires total dedication and a total break with the world of your past, with the doctrine that man is a sacrificial animal who exists for the pleasure of others."
People who spend their existence worrying solely about the needs of others and not themselves are not noble, benevolent, and spiritual. They are crazy. And they will not be happy, nor will they be prosperous.
To repeat a line from a character in The Fountainhead...
"To say I love you one must first know how to say the word I."
Well done Kyle!
Happy Birthday, Kyle!
ReplyDeleteThat one red paper clip touched many lives, including my own!
Your the best!!!!
Love,
Angel
Happy Birthday from one of your blog readers! I am wondering if you are in the house and what it is like there in Saskatchewan.
