Just reading the news today. Came across something pretty interesting. Some press-stopping news about a cat being let out of a bag. Huh. Do you think their source is reliable?
Now you can trade the house for the World's Biggest Red Paperclip and work your way up to the World's Biggest House :) Well done and I hope you enjoy it.
Congatulations Kyle! I've been watching since the first trade, and I couldn't be happier for you! Have a great time with your house! Maybe even get the news networks to contribute to a "Paperclip Scholarship fund" for young entrapenuers to go to college. Great job!
WOW i was looking through here because i just remembered the story from my friend a while back, and it turns out it's the day you make it. Congrats with the house!
ive been following yer thing here since the beginning i wasnt sure youde do it but you did and thats freakin' awesome dude good luck with yer future ,,,,,tom
Hey kyle This is Emilio from the previous beach bar offer. Congratulations! I have been following your quest and am really excited for you to accomplish your goal. It just took you 359 days to turn a paperclip into a house, some people take that log to build one with all the materials, some others take their whole life working and never get there. Congratulations!
Found the page today and noticed you recently got your house. This shows anything is possible aslong you have faith in it. Good job and have a nice time with your new life:)
That's awesome, man. I heard about your quest sometime either late last year or early this year on NPR.
Occasionally, I'd find myself wondering, "whatever happened to the paperclip guy?"
A little while ago, I saw a mention on Slashdot that your quest was complete.
Congratulations, dude. Not only have you done something unusual and cool, but you have managed to do it with a touch of grace and style not often seen these days. Many blessings upon your new home! :-)
i never would've thought this would end so fast. actually i hoped for more random items, like a stuffed shark or an enchanted sword and then in the end a moon stone which you would trade for a yellow paper clip to shock everyone!! ;)
Congratulations! I've been peeking in occasionally to see the progress. It's amazing to see what a snowball this has become. Glad to see you finally have your house!
This is awesome!!! This is a classic win-win-win-win-win-win-win situation; the only people who possibly lost ANYTHING are perhaps the fish pen couple, and of course Alice Cooper.
Congratulations! I'm a Japanese...I knew about you through a TV prgram in Japan. Since then, I sometimes read your blog and enjoyed. :) I really hope you have great days with it.
I came back to see how many comments you've got here so far.... Since there are just a few, I think you've inadvertently conducted a study on how many people avoid clicking on PDF files (where the details of the cat that is out of the bag may be found). Funny!
I just saw the trade mentioned on Boing Boing so the masses should be arriving soon. The question is, will they click?
Kyle I have been following this from your fish pen trade. Words dont even describe how cool this is. Next time I am headed to Regina I will detour and deliver you a case of beer. You deserve it.
Good work, very very good work. I loved the whole idea, and was just so happy to have now discoved that you have got a house. I am from australia, but a good friend of mine who I study with comes from saskatchewan. Good work. I am so happy for you.
I don't understand how you went from an afternoon with Alice Cooper to a Kiss snowglobe??? Are these things worth a lot of money??? Very cool idea, this whole trade up thing. Fun to watch the progression. Thanks.
Friend, you don't even realize the significance of this. You've just dealth capitalism a crippling blow to the kneecaps followed up by a haymaker to the jaw. Proclaim it far and wide, the world has been changed this day.
Your well deserved reward is nothing compared to what you gave us in return: the proof that ANYTHING is possible when you have a vision and the guts to do it.
Congrats, but now what do we do?!? Now, don't get me wrong, I'm all happy for you, but I'm a little sad too. Kind of like when you reach the last page of that great book. You know the story kind of continues on, but the book is finished.
A friend of mine just emailed this to me with a subject reading "you wont believe this"
I almost don't.
Your year long quest from a paperclip to a house has not only baffled me but im sure it probably pissed off my boss since I should be working right now.
In any case, way to go man.
PS: I signed your Alice Cooper Petition since Love it to Death is my favorite album of ALL TIME.
Way to go Kyle! And the house is so close to my new in-laws, we could come over for sunday tea sometime? When you have some furniture. Or some cups. Or some tea. A big congratulations on creating another north american "biggest something" alongside a road. There aren't enough big things beside roads if you ask me. Especially in the prairies.
First of all congratulations. Very cool and impressive. However, I am sorry, but I just don't get it. First one guy sells pixels for a dollar and then you trade a paper clip, granted a red one, for a house. Please help me understand.
WOW! I am just totally impressed by you, Kyle. My son is your age and is also a guy who says, "Never say never." Congrats on the house (is it nice in SK?), and I hope you and Dom will post some photos of the new manse once you've moved in! Looks like a nice little house.
A big "high-five" from the great state of Colorado!
Amazing. I am in awe. I bow to your great wisdom, Oh Jedi Knight of the Paperclip. (For the record, I voted for the golf tournament, but hey, you can't argue with success!) Congratulations!
Congrats Kyle! You make us believe everything is possible in this world.
You probably can't read russian, but anyway, here is one of the main russian news sites and it just posted your story on the main page http://www.newsru.com/world/08jul2006/srepka.html -you'll recognize the pictures:)
Congratulations! I just heard about your quest last night (Friday, July 7, 2006) so I guess I'm a bit behind in world internet news, but as a new resident of Canada's West myself, let me be one of the first to congratulate you.
As for the feeling of relief akin to finishing a marathon, I'll let you know what that's like after I finish my first 42.2km race tomorrow (Sunday July 9). Way to go, and I'll be sure to share your story.
I think this is the first time I've posted voluntarily in a blog. And the reason I'm writing is no different from anybody else's here, I just wanted to congratulate you because this was one of the funniest and most original ideas I have ever read about. If I could give you one advice ( not that i know much about anything, after all i'm only 17 ), I would tell you not to stop. Now that you are known, use the publicity of the "one red paper clip" for something else, for another project or even to get a great job in... I don't know... Google, Dreamworks, anywhere. You're creativity shoudn't be wasted.
Congratulations again! Bye ;) Giovana
PS: I'm afraid I won't be able to attend your party since I... well... live in Brazil lol. But I hope you have fun!
Congradulations man that's really soething, But I guess you're not gonna trade the house since they're even erecting a monument and all that. What happened to the island? lol
I would have never guessed that you would have achieved your goal with the incredibly small amount of trades it actually took (much less the items). Congratulations man!
This is a great example of how a seemingly impossible notion can become a rock solid reality and its made ever more possible by the expansion of the internet. This idealistic dream seemed laughable when you traded for a dirty old tooth brush but its proven to be an impressive insight; an insight that can be taken advantage of by other idealists, dreamers, thinkers and average citizens of the world. To all of them you have proven that "it", whatever it is, can be accoplished. Thank you.
The journey you've travelled to achieve this goal has not only taught you, but all of us, that anything is possible if only you put your mind to it.
I've lived in Kenosee Lake which is very close to Kipling. In fact, I've lived in lots of places in Sask-a-bush. It's quiet beauty is calming. It's massive sky is entertaining. And the mosquitoes will eat you alive!!! hee, hee.
All the best to you and yours! AL in Prince Rupert
Hi Kyle, I have a black clip I do not need anymore. Do you want to trade your house for it? It could be much more useful than the red clip you initially had, it is just much cooler. If you are interested just contact me by placing an announcement on the first page of your blog... to check that it's me and not somebody stealing my excellent trade, my gmail account contains 6 letters, starts with a, ends up with s, and was created on the 9th January 2005. It contains 349 e-mails right now.
Good job Kyle, well....we will miss you here in Montreal but good luck to you and Dom.... She probably need lot of credit for that unbelievable project.
Congratulations again and thanks for the wonderfull and fabulous entertainement journey.
WOW! congrats. i've been watching since u were on Attack of The Show on the G4 network. On the MMO i play, i did the same thing. didnt work out the same though. but u seem like a nice guy and im happy 4 ya. now im ganna try the same thing.(if it works out the same i'll make a website.)
Kyle, this is the rockingest project in recent history. I sincerely hope you keep this webpage up. I used to teach economics and this is a brilliant tool to teach with. Best, Adam, Kankakee, IL
Man, what a journey. Just caught you on CNN this afternoon. Today was the first I'd heard of this adventure of yours. So, this is what you do now, after you spend some time in the house, sell it and donate the money to charity. You are a celeb now, use that to do good things. Call up Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, they can give you some advice/assistance.
Kyle: you have inspired all my students at Everett Community College in WA- WOW! What fun we have had watching your idea grow - and Hats off to you for achieving a dream! It goes to show that when we set an intention- the whole universe conspires to make it happen- thank you for the joy you gave us all with your most fabulous idea...if you are ever in Seattle- I would love to put you up for awhile! A million thank yous for all your inspiration! Have a blast on your next adventure and be sure to let us in on it! J. Davis
Bravo! You had a vision and made it happen. This is a great example of what you can do if you set your mind to it. It should be taught as an example in schools.
Amazing!! Just a year to achieve this, congratulations Kyle. What a great adventure for you and with the support of so many people around the world. Somehow it restores some faith in human nature, mans inhumanity to man withers slightly with such achievements. Best of luck in your new home.
Cool idea, Kyle! ... And a gorgeous example how creativity can change life. Good luck for your future and have fun with your house! Hannes, Austria, Europe
That was a brilliant idea! I can just imagine the really cool history of the whole adventure you went through in this whole story, must have been the adventure of a life time! I come from Montreal and am really proud to know someone from my home town has gotten this far with just a red paper clip. Shows the world what one can do with a dream! Line Levesque Now living in Cambridge, Ontario. Good luck with the rest of your adventure!
I first heard of your story at an awards assembly for Native Youth in our community. The Director of our Boys & Girls Club was one of the quest speakers and he shared your story with us. His point, of course, was to let the kids know that nothing is impossible and to never give up on your dreams and that big things do come in small packages.
Congratulations, it's amazing that in this day and age, bartering is still alive and well. Enjoy your humble abode, you deserve it!! Hey you even made local newspaper front page headlines, way to go!
Congratz. To make you even happier, I think you will like this; your story isn't just news in Canada (oh, and that country to the south of you called the USA, by the way) but it's really international! Just now it was on the radio in The Netherlands (http://www.3fm.nl).
I just found out about your project on Yahoo news today. What an interesting concept! I LOVE the fact that you were able to do what you did, via the communities like blogger.com and CL....ah yes...good 'ol CL.
It's really amazing to hear about how someone could start w/ a red paperclip and work himself up to a house! Why didn't I think of that?!?!?!
Well, congratulations! I'm looking forward to your book. :)
Hey Kyle! Good luck in Kipling! It's a pretty good town. I lived there with family for a year when I was a kid. Say "Hi" to Uncle Frank for me! Stacey.
Awesome is not enough to express my feeling and surprise. You really proved the meaning of value-added transactions and it's the finest example for we all to rock the traditional trade systems so blocked with old structures.
Now we should all try to find the way to trade with virtually any items, which will have for sure a suitable owner to trade with somewhere else, just find the item, find the owner, get the trade!!
anyone interested in building upon this idea drop a line to ci130@hotmail.com, will follow it up. THNX
Congratulations Kyle, you deserve it. I've been watching your website for a while now since I've been impressed with your good idea. And, good ideas and persistence win every time. Good job and enjoy the new pad!
I saw your story on Yahoo.news today ... I'm absolutely fascinated ... shocked, stunned, thrilled, amazed. You did one of the most incredible things I've ever seen done. Period.
You've got the whole nation's attention ... heck, two nations, for that matter. Congratulations. Steve
Absolutely THE BEST! You DID IT, Kyle! Congrat's all around - to you, Corbin, the town of Kipling, everyone you traded with and all of us have been following your story. It's been a great trip with the 'clip!
DUDE U R A COMPLETE LEGEND! I CANT BELIEVE THAT U TRADED THINGS WHICH LEAD UP 2 A HOUSE....CAN I SAY THE BLOKE THAT TRADED THE SNOWMOBILE IS A COMPLETE LOSER LOL. BARREL OF BEER. WORTH APPROX $400 (IF THAT) SNOW MOBILE...WORTH AT LEAST $1500 LOL. I CANT BELIEVE YOU DONE THAT IN ONE YEAR THATS AMAZING!...U GUNA DO N E FING ELSE LIKE THIS AGEN??
Hi great adventure, may be next step for you is to get a brain, and plastic surgery... at last it could be inteerested for your girlfriend (if I believe what u wrote...)
It great to see the world still has a sense of humor! Totally awesome. Congratulations. You have incredible determination - good role model for kids! I bet Oprah calls you!!:)
Saludos desde Chile! Vi tu historia en un periódico de circulación nacional en mi país y te busqué en google. Ahora he leído toda la historia y... wow! es fantástica!
Greetings from Chile! I've read your story in a newspaper, here in Chile, so i google you. Now I´m reading your blog and just want to tell you CONGRATULATIONS! Keep thinking big scale and surely you'll change the world!
That's one of the most amazing stories I've heard. I heartily approve! What a brilliant idea to find a house. Enjoy your local/national/internet celebrity!
I applaud the lesson in how 'we' value things. I also applaud the fact that you marketed your writing career so well, and got a house to boot! Now that's creative. I'm curious as to how much money you have invested in creating this story(oh, and does Dom get a place to live too? or just the career boost?...you went to great efforts to document and organize the process and you are obviously a talented writer. Good job. I look forward to the book and the movie.

What a fantastic journey. Good for you.
I find it amazing that a town went to such lengths. Congrats!
Incredible. What a great lesson you've taught us - that small things can lead to great things.
That red paperclip itself is probably worth a new house by now... ;-)
Fantastic. Well done.
Now only if I could do this.
Congratulations, Kyle--I hope the town is ready for all the people who are going to show up for the work day on that house.
I have to confess, I'm a bit disappointed--it's been fun following your adventures, and now this particular journey is ending.
I hope the town is fantabulous!
Congratulations!! Wish you all the best!!!!!
Congratulations Kyle.
Your well deserved reward is nothing compared to what you gave us in return: the proof that ANYTHING is possible when you have a vision and the guts to do it.
But does this mean that the entire town of Kipling will appear in Corbin Bernsen's movie??? There goes the budget...
Sweet Dude

You are awesome. We are not worthy.
I first heard your interview on NPR, I believe, and was confident you could do it - there was no stopping.
I have two hopes:
- That you don't get taxed.
- That some captain-of-industry takes you on to manage asset valuations and aquisitions.
Congratulations!
I feel so out of the world that I didn't stumble upon this site sooner (I only just today read about it in the CNET announcement about the house).
Simply the coolest thing I've seen in a long time! MUCHO congrats Kyle. They seem like a great town to live in too (I'm in dusty hot Los Angeles)..

I will give you one blue paper clip for that house...what do you say?
hahaha!
Bien joué!
J'aurais pas cru que ce serait faisable en si peu de temps!

I was getting to think that you were not going to make it. But I am glad that you did. It just proves that anything is possible.

Two thumbs up Kyle! What a plan...
And the mosquitoes will eat you alive!!! hee, hee.
All the best to you and yours!

...wow, bravo!!!! Have been following since the beggining! Here's to hope, and a dream! Congrats friend!!!
Hi Kyle,
I have a black clip I do not need anymore.
Congradulations! You've done something most people would have regarded as impossible just over a year ago.
Good job Kyle, well....we will miss you here in Montreal but good luck to you and Dom.... She probably need lot of credit for that unbelievable project.
Congratulations again and thanks for the wonderfull and fabulous entertainement journey.

One Red paper clip and all people in the world can hope and get anything they want.....WOW.
Congratulations
I too am shocked it took so little time: but that town really seems to like you.
It's a little disappointing to see it over so soon (would've been great to see you trade a ferrari or something), but great work.
"We are all of us in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." --Oscar Wilde
Congratulations to you dear Kyle for never taking your eyes off the stars.
Enjoy your new home...enjoy your new life.

Congratulations, brilliant, absolutely brilliant.
Awesome dude.... Totally awesome. Never thought it would be possible... Irish.
congratulations,
you've been on radio in Belgium this morning (Classique21, 5th better radio in the world)
Impossible! You pulled it off....
You can do better than a house... You said something about a house on an island... Go for it! You know it's possible!
Go for the ISLAND dude!!!!!!!
Congrats from Shane in Australia.
You were just big news on our national news!
Well done mate do you think you are going to start all over again with one blue paperclip?

Cool idea, Kyle! ... And a gorgeous example how creativity can change life. Good luck for your future and have fun with your house! Hannes, Austria, Europe
That was a brilliant idea! I can just imagine the really cool history of the whole adventure you went through in this whole story, must have been the adventure of a life time! I come from Montreal and am really proud to know someone from my home town has gotten this far with just a red paper clip. Shows the world what one can do with a dream!

Good luck with the rest of your adventure!
Awesome job, Kyle!
I first heard of your story at an awards assembly for Native Youth in our community. The Director of our Boys & Girls Club was one of the quest speakers and he shared your story with us. His point, of course, was to let the kids know that nothing is impossible and to never give up on your dreams and that big things do come in small packages.
Way to go! I hope you are very happy in Kipling.

How'bout that?
Regards,
Philip Lafeber.
Way to go. You stuck by it to the end. This is a darn good story!
Stacey.
congrats man u did it
u should be proud of yourself
and thank God for this accomplishment in your life
God Bless YOu
Awesome is not enough to express my feeling and surprise.
THNX
Kyle, what a fun and inspiring American dream story! All the best to you and Dom. I'm mailing my snow globe to Corbin today!
Best wishes from Los Angeles!
Congratulations Kyle, you deserve it. I've been watching your website for a while now since I've been impressed with your good idea. And, good ideas and persistence win every time. Good job and enjoy the new pad!

Steve
Absolutely THE BEST! You DID IT, Kyle! Congrat's all around - to you, Corbin, the town of Kipling, everyone you traded with and all of us have been following your story. It's been a great trip with the 'clip!

That's one of the most amazing stories I've heard. I heartily approve! What a brilliant idea to find a house. Enjoy your local/national/internet celebrity!
Wow!! I need a bigger house...Think it could happen again?? WTG!! Good luck!
If that isn't working the great North American dream to its fullest I don't know what is. Way to go...what's next, a trade up for the White House?
Nice house, but I have one question. Did you find, buy, or get the clip as a gift?
I applaud the lesson in how 'we' value things. I also applaud the fact that you marketed your writing career so well, and got a house to boot! Now that's creative. I'm curious as to how much money you have invested in creating this story(oh, and does Dom get a place to live too? or just the career boost?...you went to great efforts to document and organize the process and you are obviously a talented writer. Good job. I look forward to the book and the movie.
