Yes, all the rumors, speculation and totally unreliable third-party opinions regarding my decision to trade one afternoon with Alice Cooper for one KISS snow globe are 100% accurate.
I jumped the shark:
PS - If you're lost, or really just a fan of late 70s TV show drama-heightening theme music coupled with slow-mo action scenes that include no less than (a)a leather jacket, (b) a waist-belt-type life preserver, (c) water skiing, (d) hangtime, (e) a shark, and (f) the "OK" sign, then go here.
Dude, this snow globe thing puts you back betweent the coleman stove and the generator. Was there something more in the box?
ReplyDeleteIn defence of Kyle: One Red Paperclip is not a democracy. I'm sure Kyle has some method to his madness, so ye of little faith, watch this space.
ReplyDeleteWell one thing to remember is that in any sport you watch your team does not always win. It is easy to sit there on Monday morning and say. "They should have played so and so " or "they didn't work hard enough. SO if we are real "FANS" of the site then we will continue to support. Like you said, It IS about having fun as well as getting a house. Keep it up Kyle, do your thang
ReplyDeleteTrading Cooper for the snow globe is basically like trading that cube van for that snow globe. I know quite a few people who have happily used their vehicles as their homes. Cintas would have made a rad house.
ReplyDeleteHowever, even if you do realize it was a bad trade, don't get in bad spirits. I continue to support you for your great humor and I think that's worth more than any house you can get. Keep up the great work.
I kinda didnt like this crazy idea (but i do love your jumping the shark video), but since this is so popular, I'm sure you're gonna make it, even if there are some fans who wont be following anymore.
ReplyDeleteIs it possible that the deadline trapped you? Maybe you just had to take the best thing you got offered before 9 pm wednesday? Either way, even though it's not about cash value, I'm not sure there are many people out there who would say that a snow globe, no matter how cool, is more valuable than an afternoon with Alice Cooper. I almost feel bad for the guy who gave you the cube van.
ReplyDeleteI really don't understand it... But I can't complain. This is Kyle's journey, not mine, and not anyone elses. Those people who agreed to trade did so of their own volition and if they didn't think it was worth it, then they shouldn't have made the trade. Alls we can do is sit back and watch; all the while being completely mystified.
ReplyDeleteAaaay!
.. and thus the shark was jumped ...
ReplyDeleteWay to go Kyle! I'm sure you had your reasons for trading for the globe! We'll just have to wait and see...
I have to say, that I too was a bit bumfuzzled by the choice of the Kiss Globe, but - well it is your choice. Nothing like giving yourself a bigger challenge, eh? Let's see where this thing goes from here.
ReplyDeletedude...if i was alice cooper and found out you valued a day with me less than a snow globe? i'd be pissed
ReplyDeletebut i'm not going to stop reading the blog because of it. dadaism or not, i want to see you barter for the house
I'm sure there is something behind this. I didn't think it was a funny trade. But I'll stick around since I am sure you had something brewing already. Come on don't keep us in suspense too long!!!
ReplyDeleteI think everyone here is missing the point... It's not about what other people gave and if he is letting them down. If they had any reason to trade other then getting what was being traded then they were in the wrong. It's all about one person's junk is another person's treasure. There is probably a collector out there that will trade A LOT for a kiss globe if it's rare or important to THEM... It's not what you think the value of something is... It's about what someone somewhere out there thinks it is... I had a friend that traded a toothpick up to a virtual boy, and inbetween he got some stuff that was real junk to him... In the end he got a action figure that we thought was crap but some guy traded a virtual boy for it (Granted thats crap too but still!)
ReplyDeleteHmmm...
ReplyDeleteJeff and whoever else is ticked - he has scammed no one, everybody received something that they valued in return for what they had to offer. Your "$900,00 donation" analogy is facile and feeble. I figured something was up when he traded the YEAR'S FREE RENT for ONE DAY with Alice Cooper. Perhaps the snow globe owner was the biggest Alice Cooper fan out there and he wanted to give him a thrill - or maybe Kyle has the taxman breathing down his neck. Maybe he makes enough off of ads on this site to buy a house, or maybe the Japanese gave him a lifetime supply of Santori and he'd prefer to just while away the days drunk making bad deals. Who knows? Only Kyle. But puh-lease don't cry about him disrespecting the prior traders - they got what they wanted.
I'm liking the flip flops.
ReplyDeleteJumping shark infested waters is very scary!! I'm glad you have now acutally jumped the shark...because i disagree with the fact that you took a couple steps back. But now...you have offically jumped the shark! Is that good or bad?
